Farmer's Market

We went to one of the local farmer's markets this morning. We missed church because I had washed Girlie's car seat cover last night, and we couldn't get it on in time this morning. Hubby bought me these beautiful flowers. I love the mix of purple, orange, and yellow.

I got a loaded baked potato for lunch, and it was one of the best I've ever had. I didn't even need salt, and I always use salt.

Hubby got an Elephant Ear and he put jam on it. Oh, I wish I could eat flour so I could have had a bite, but I would have had it without jam. Hubby also had a hot dog (it got eaten before I could get a picture).

Successful BBQ Experience

I usually leave the BBQ-ing to hubby, but since it was so hot today, I thought, why boil corn inside and make it even hotter? So I looked up how to do corn and potatoes on the BBQ and it all turned out!! I'm going to be doing a lot more on the BBQ.

My New Bedroom

I redid my bedroom this past weekend. I got a new bedspread, new decorative pillows, and window treatments. I'm not quite ready to show the before and after pictures (I'm having trouble hanging the window scarf), I wanted to show a sneak peak. I got 6 accent pillows and two pictures to hang on the wall all for $60 at Ross!

Before we got satellite and I started watching HGTV, I would have never had the guts to put these pillows together on a bed.

This is my decorative throw on the end of the bed. I absolutely love it!

The Bachelorette

As promised, I am diligently taking notes on The Bachelorette for my mother in Thailand who does not have access to this quality show oversees.

Three dates this week; two group, one one-on-on. For the first group date, Jillian sneaks out of the house and the guys have to follow clues to find her. Michael, the break dancer and Tanner the foot fetish guy are acting like little girls while trying to follow the clues to find Jillian. Brad the financial advisor keeps saying how he’s the brains; he's very conceited. Wes the country music singer (pictured) ends up getting the dinner date with Jillian at the end of the game. He kisses her at dinner. He gets the rose and gets to stay at Jillian’s mansion that night (in a separate bed, of course!). The other guys accuse Wes of being on the show to further his career rather than to find love.

Jake, the hot pilot (pictured) gets the one-on-one date. Jillian wants to make sure Jake has enough spunk, and it turns out he does. He is my absolute favorite! If Jillian doesn’t end up with him, I bet he would have a good chance a being the next Bachelor. I do forsee his profession being a problem. Who wants to be married to someone who's always out of town? Jake kisses Jillian on this date, and I think she is very taken with him. They go on a country-western date, have dinner, and dance to Martina McBride singing live.

The next group date involved playing basketball. As usual, the guys got all macho trying to compare who was the best. Then several members of the Harlem Globetrotters came out and played basketball with Jillian and the guys. When the group spent some time on the beach, Jillian said if one of the guys asked another sunbather for his Speedo, wore it, and jumped into the cold ocean, she would “call it all off right now.” Mike, the baseball camp owner did it and got the rose for the group date. David, the trucking contractor can’t stand Juan, the general contractor (pictured), and it really makes David look bad.

Jillian pulled Kiptyn, the business developer  (pictured) aside, and found out that he’s usually the heart breaker. She kissed him, and I think she really enjoyed it. She admitted that she forgets what she’s talking about and just wants to make out with him.

The night of the rose ceremony, Jillian gets to talk to Jesse, the wine maker (pictured). He’s definitely a potential winner. Then, Robby the bartender, who was one of the four guys to not get a date this week finally got alone time with Jillian, got two words out and Wes, who already has a rose interrupted him – very rude! Then Wes got all jealous, and I don’t think Jillian was impressed with that. Brian, the IT consultant, decides to strip to his nudey and jump into the pool. When he wanted a kiss after he got out of the pool, Jillian was very hesitant.

The guys got to vote for one person they wanted off the show. They voted for Juan, the general contractor, but Jillian chose to save him. Simon, the tall British guy, Julien, the restaurant guy, Brian, the IT Consultant who jumped into the pool naked, and Mathue the personal trainer didn’t get roses. Sixteen guys are left.

My favorites are Jake the pilot and Jesse the wine maker.

The Bachelorette - First Impressions

My dear mother has moved to Thailand for the foreseeable future and therefore NEEDS me to give her Bachelorette updates. So, here are my thoughts:

Kiptyn (pictured) – hot, wow; I REALLY like him. Got a rose.

Michael – break dance instructor, um…not really feeling it; got a rose

Julien – too into himself and his sports; got a rose

Steve – lawyer, shown as a dork, not too hot

Juan, the contractor who works with his mom – definite possibility; got the last rose.

Mark – a little selfish; got a rose.

Kyle – not hot, conceited, weird, creepy, almost 7 feet tall; got lost on the way to the house

Sasha – (Serbian) maybe a possibility; got a rose.

Wes - country singer, wore jeans to first meeting, awkward; Jillian made a face; he’s on to the next round though.

Greg – fitness model, conceited

Jake – (pictured), pilot, decent looks, looking for his best friend, cute, definite possibility; gave her a little set of wings – cute! I REALLY like him. Jillian chose him first in the rose ceremony.

Bryan – high school coach, swept her off her feet, literally

John P – huh? From Boise Idaho, he looks weird…I can’t look at him.

Brian – consultant, too confident…weird or something; I don’t like him

David, trucking contractor – got nervous when meeting her and couldn’t speak!!! Jillian ends up giving him the first impression rose because he really recovered and was himself during his second impression.

Tanner F – seems nice; got a rose.

Robby – bartender, got a rose

Brad, financial advisor – too dorky, admittedly corny; got a rose.

Mathue, personal trainer – had cowboy hat; got a rose

Simon – soccer coach, has English accent, is like 7 feet tall, and his accent was SO thick, they had to put captions on the screen so we could understand what he was saying. Got a rose.

Jesse –(pictured) wine maker; I REALLY like him; Jillian chose him second in the rose ceremony – boy I really called it!

Adam, Olympic cyclist, not too hot

Caleb, photographer, wore jeans to first meet her

Josh, lifeguard

Jillian was hanging out with the 25 guys when Chris, the host introduced 5 more guys for her to choose from.

Sorry Mom, I couldn’t type up comments on the surprise guys, Babycakes needed to be rocked to sleep. No real winners or memorable men in that bunch though.

My three favorites are Kiptyn (forgot what he does), Jake the pilot, and Jesse the winemaker.

Ed got a rose. Mike got a rose. Some other guy from the final 5 got a rose. Tanner P from the final 5 got a rose. He’s obsessed with feet – weird.

This summary of the guys is no way conclusive; I was taking care of Babycakes while trying to take notes. Looks to be a good season with 4-5 good choices.

My Lava Plant Lives!

This is the first bloom since my mother gave the plant to me when she came at for the birth of my son, 2 and half years ago. It lives!

Mother's Day Flowers

Hubby got me this lovely perennial for Mother's Day.

He knows my favorite color is purple and these are explosive with color. Thanks Hubby!

I call this photo "Apples" - brilliant, I know.

Actually what inspired these photos was an article on the Digital Photography School site that talked about patterns. Here I've used a broken pattern with the emphasis on the green apple. Obviously I need about 20 more red apples to really emphasize my broken pattern, but hey, I didn't want the apples to go to waste, so I only wanted to buy as many as I knew we could eat.

Dancing With the Stars and The Bachelorette

I haven't had a chance yet to watch all of the results show (busy watching The Biggest Loser results), but I know Ty went home. One of the things I liked most about Ty was his sense of humor. He always seemed to have some witty/dry humor comment that made me laugh out loud

I really hope Melissa wins next week!

I'm really excited for The Bachelorette! But seeing the sneak peak during Dancing With the Stars on Monday made me cringe a little, because Jillian is so down to earth, and I know it's going to be hard for me to see her with so many guys. I hope she has a better ending than Jason did. I know we all thought he had a heart of gold at the beginning of The Bachelor, but then look what happened! I don't want to see Jillian corrupted.

My Mom is moving to Thailand tomorrow (for several years at least) and might not be able to watch The Bachelorette online (it didn't work for her in Laos). If this happens, I, the dutiful daughter, will do my best to summarize each show and provide her with the pertinent details of The Bachelorette here on this blog. So, look for my summaries each week! (This is assuming of course that I'm not too busy nursing or rocking a crying baby to sleep.) Here's to quality TV.

Dancing With the Stars

What's with Samantha Harris' dress? Even Tom made a comment about it. That's all I'll say about it.

Ty and Melissa have both been my favorites. Ty, because he's so likable. I give him a lot of my votes even though the dancing isn't up to par. I just like him. I've been following his wife, Jewel's Twitter updates, and it's been really neat to see the pictures and read the updates. It really makes them both seem like real people. I have been listening to Jewel since about 1997, and I totally love her! So, it's been really great to read her Twitter updates. I feel like I know her know.

Does anyone else wonder why Melissa's parents are okay with being on TV every week in the audience and then doing an interview on this week's show, but they weren't okay with meeting Jason when Melissa was on The Bachelor? I wonder if they felt bad for seeming to not support Melissa on The Bachelor.

Gilles is an amazing dancer, of course, but he's just not my favorite. Shawn is great and cute, but she's my third favorite after Melissa and Ty. It will be interesting to see who goes home tomorrow.

Flowers (and a bug) From My Garden

This flowering bush (I have no clue what it is), is in my back yard and I think the blooms kind of look like that yellow weed that grows around here. I'm not a fan of this bush.

This "little" guy had me hopping and yelping about as I was taking pictures. They are supposedly harmless, right? But I can't stand that loud buzzing sound; it freaks me out. Especially since I crashed my first ever car, a gold Ford Escort I named Goldie (clever, I know), when a wasp flew in the window while I was driving and started to crawl up my leg.

But I couldn't resist trying to take his picture.

*No humans were hurt in the shooting of this picture.

Flowers From My Yard

Okay, is this a cherry tree blossom? I have four of these trees in my yard and they are full of these beautiful pink blooms.

Weight Watchers Update

I lost 1.6 pounds at my weigh in today. I completed the traveling journal, which really helped me stick to my points.

Flowers From My Yard

This darling ground cover is in bloom now in my backyard.

Flowers From My Yard

This year I want to take a picture of everything that blooms in my yard. So here's this little flower. Not sure what it is.

Ice Cream

I took this picture for the Digital Photography School Weekly Assignment, Your Evening. My evening is not complete without my bowl of ice cream. The vignette effect was the result of using my telephoto lens. I did very little post-processing on this. (This is my Bryer's Lactose-Free Ice Cream by the way.)

Ugly Betty is Back!

I love the show Ugly Betty and am so glad to see it back on TV now. I'm glad they've made Betty's hair a little more styled, and I think they've also let her have mascara. Those two little differences make her look so much better. If you're a fan, make sure you watch the webisodes with Amanda and Mark on
